Local Membership

The Champaign County Drug Free Youth Coalition is a community mobilizing coalition aimed at reducing youth substance abuse. Local problems include underage drinking and marijuana use.

Coalition members include:

Law Enforcement: Rick Jordan (Champaign County Sheriff’s Dept.) and Matt Lingrell (Urbana Police Division)

Schools: Dan Kaffenbarger (Madison-Champaign Educational Services Center & Mechanicsburg EVSD) and Susie Sassenberg (Urbana University)

Local Government: David Higgins (Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Services Board of Logan and Champaign Counties), Jean Erickson and Wes Samogy (Champaign County Prosecutor’s Office), Gil Weithman (City of Urbana Municipal Court), and Amy Johnson (Champaign County Family Court)
